Experimental furniture that started with the motivations of “How would something like this work?” and “Let’s go a bit overboard and see…”

These attempts were expressed by the title “Experiment 2000.” The attempt to challenge the shape of a sofa resulted in “LAND CARPET.” The idea was to have a sofa that allowed one to sit on the floor and recline, so the sofa actually rises out of the floor itself. BIG CHOCOLATE CARPET came from the “art object” concept of taking something very small and making it huge. REVOLVING LIGHT is a Katayama-like interpretation of the principle of the traditional Japanese revolving lantern. It expresses an interesting non-electrical movement mechanism. ECHO SHELF uses a mirrored surface sandwiched between acrylic sheets, making the stored items appear to float about 15 mm. ZIPPER SHELF replaces the rigid material of movable shelving with flexible material. The movable parts were replaced by fasteners. It is a redevelopment of movable shelving.
