We have been braided, by the stylists who have the patience to pattern our crown. This photo series has been published in the Summer Solstice for Futurecraft. It’s bi-annual and showcases the best of the best creatives around the world. We connected and communicated this tradition not only because it’s a lifestyle but also because this instrument creates a sound in which we know it will resonate throughout the inner city and suburb. Our society is filled with aesthetics, camouflaged inside of the metropolis. In my opinion, that which is most touched and frequented is that which contains the most effective patterns. These braids are symbolic of the beginning of time and the end. As it starts and ends the same way, reinforcing the concept of infinity — or as we display it in finiteness, or in other words having a beginning and an end. It is often misunderstood as if something goes on and on and on, but this is a misconception. So with symbols you have a representation and result when using. These braids maintain energies and act as highway’s for each specific’s vehicle ie. the thoughts and intentions the person has when styling, the pattern which traps & the status of the subject. Every time my braids are re-done I have a re-boost of energy, the longer they stay in whatever was projected at the time of inception is now manifested infinitely or at least until it circumvents all over again. Also, this texture of hair as opposed to fur, traps heat in. If our body was completely covered in this hair we’d be super hot, all the time, thus only receiving patches here and there for concentrated spots. Sandra Rose’s site has spoken about “hair” problems but in my opinion, it goes deeper and to a more spiritual existence. So in conclusion, open your eyes to the art above, through, below, behind, around etc. nature never lies.
